Consumer Participation Celebration

ACT Minister for Health, Katy Gallagher MLA, today encouraged healthcare consumers to continue to provide feedback on all of aspects of ACT Health service delivery.

The Health Minister today addressed the ACT Health Consumer Participation Celebration at the ACT Legislative Assembly.

“Consumer participation and feedback is highly regarded within ACT Health,” Ms Gallagher said.

“I’d like to express my thanks to our consumer representatives who work so tirelessly to ensure safe, quality and timely healthcare continues to be provided in the ACT.

“We all want to know that our health system is operating as effectively and efficiently as possible, and consumer feedback plays a vital role in ensuring the patient’s voice is heard.”

“It’s very encouraging to see the contributions being made by consumers to some of our key reform processes,” she said.

Consumers are represented on 80% of ACT Health committees. These representatives provide feedback and advice from the consumer’s perspective which is integral to ACT Health’s decision-making process and therefore to its service provision.

Today’s event was an opportunity to present the consumer representatives with certificates of appreciation to acknowledge their valuable contribution.
