Minister congratulates ACT Health CEO on new role

ACT Minister for Health, Katy Gallagher MLA, has congratulated ACT Health Chief Executive Mark Cormack on his appointment as the first CEO of Health Workforce Australia.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Mr Cormack for his dedication to ACT Health over the past five years and more broadly, for his service to the Canberra community,” Ms Gallagher said.

“During his time as Chief Executive, Mr Cormack has demonstrated a passion and commitment to public health care in Canberra,” she said.

Mr Cormack first took up employment with ACT Health in 1990 after being appointed Director of Child Health and Development Services and later Director of Primary Health Care. He returned to the department in 2005 as Deputy Chief Executive, later accepting the role of Chief Executive.

“Under his leadership, ACT Health has progressed the Government’s $1 billion Capital Asset Development Plan which involves the complete rebuild of the ACT’s public health facilities,” Ms Gallagher said.

“His contribution to the health of our community, his hard work and his commitment to creating the best possible health care system for the Canberra region has been significant.

“While Mr Cormack’s departure will be a loss to ACT Health and the Canberra community, his contribution to public health will continue at the national level in his new role.

“On a personal and professional level I will miss him and I’d like to wish him well in his next endeavour,” Ms Gallagher said.
