Just received these photos of me going up in the cherry picker to place the star on our Christmas Tree in Civic Square. I don't like heights at all and this tree is 21 metres tall so you can imagine how I felt up there. I started off looking a little nervous but under the careful watch of the drivers I did calm down a little. I'm sure a few of my staff enjoyed watching me do this more than they let on. I can see the star poking above the windows on the 2nd floor of the Assembly building and I still can't believe I was up that high. The things a Chief Minister has to do!
Unfortunately I was in Sydney for the lighting of the tree the following evening, but I hear it was a great event so I've included a photo below. Wonderful to see so many Canberrans enjoying the festivities. Green power is being used to power the 2000 Christmas tree lights.
