MALCOLM TURNBULL BACKS ANOTHER BANKING INQUIRY BUT STILL WON’T ESTABLISH A ROYAL COMMISSION

Malcolm Turnbull’s deal with Pauline Hanson to establish another banking inquiry shows how desperate he is to keep One Nation’s support in the Senate.

It is astonishing that the Prime Minister continues to have review after review into the banking sector but he will not accept the fact that only a Royal Commission will get to the bottom of the issues that have led to the rip offs and scandals in the sector that have left thousands of Australians with nothing.

Only two weeks ago Malcolm Turnbull refused to back Labor's Senate Inquiry into consumer and banking rip offs, but now he is all too happy to fall into line behind One Nation and give his blessing for a much narrower inquiry into the banks.

Malcolm Turnbull is the best friend the big banks ever had and this deal is further evidence of that.

Labor will continue to fight for a Banking Royal Commission because we know that it is the only thing that can deliver the systematic, structural and cultural change that the banking and financial services sector needs.
